Nature, Aesthetic and Design in Handweaving Workshop at Makingapp
Following on from my sold-out Weaving as Meditation Workshop with Making App, I am delighted to host a new class for their community. My Nature, Aesthetic and Design in Handweaving Workshop is perfect for students who attended my previous class, as well as for those who are comfortable with the basic techniques of handweaving on a 7x7 inch loom.
During this session, we will learn more about the use of color, pattern and design when using unique hand-dyed loops. As well as exploring how these elements combine with one another to create an aesthetic which reflects the individual weaver, we will also explore how being in a relationship with the natural world helps to inform our creativity and our awareness of the resources around us.
This is a workshop for those who want to continue experiencing weaving with their hands, connecting directly with the fibers and embracing that no hooks or crochet tools are needed. It will also be an opportunity for attendees to go deeper into the meditative experience of weaving and the importance of making time for stillness when creating.
Workshop attendees will need a 7x7 inch metal hand loom and a bag of hand-dyed indigo cotton loops and one bag of solid colored loops to take part. These can be purchased on my website here. The loops can be purchased separately if you already have a loom.

Founded to help create a new ecosystem for all makers to learn, explore and grow, @themakingapp are a network of makers, doers, fixers, and changers, honoring the craft work of those who came before us. I’m excited to be part of their new events program and hope you can join me in September.
