I am delighted to welcome guest teacher Julie Hue for a highly useful online workshop to learn all about how to use the program Desmos to explore pot holder designs on a whole new level!
In this two hour class, you’ll use Desmos to try loop colors, resize a chart to match your loom size, get row-by-row weaving instructions, and adjust the settings so the chart will look good on your device. You’ll also learn to make your own coloring shortcuts so you can change all the loop colors by changing just a few.
This is the ideal class for those who want to experiment more with their weaving work but who like having instructions to follow while they weave. It's also perfect for those who perhaps struggle to visualize their design ideas and want to see how a finished piece might look before starting out.
As Julie notes:
"I love getting requests for charts. Some people want to try colors, and some want weaving instructions. Whatever the need, it’s always a joy to help a fellow weaver.
I shared my first programs so people could try colors in a variety of patterns. I thought it would end there, but then some people said they can’t read charts. That put me on a mission to make every pattern weaveable for them, so I added weaving instructions to the programs.
Learning Desmos has been a fun adventure for me, but it has been truly rewarding to hear people’s stories and see the potholders that Desmos made possible for them."
We hope you can join us for this essential class to take your work to the next level.
The workshop will take place via Zoom on Saturday, November 2nd 2024, 10am-12pm (PT) / 1-3pm (ET).
Cost per attendee: $50
If you aren't able to join the live workshop, don't forget that a recording of the class will also be provided after the event by email, for all paying attendees for you to watch at your leisure. This recording will also be available to purchase in the Workshop Recordings section of my website after the event.
