Mentoring support for your weaving and crafting journey

A cornerstone of my weaving journey has been the facilitation of mutual support for weavers across all walks of life through the creation of the Weaving Way Community.  I am pleased to now be able to extend support on a one-to-one basis, through a mentoring program.

A mentoring relationship between two professionals allows an artist or maker with some years of practice to support someone who is at an earlier point in their making journey, or just starting out. A mentor helps you to move closer to your goals through open, informal discussion, helping you to work out your next steps in a way which is right for you.

How can mentoring help?

If you are interested in developing your work in some way, then mentoring can be a great choice.  Seeking conversation with someone with more experience in your field when you have a challenge you want to overcome, or a change you'd like to make can be a rewarding experience.  Having someone reflect back to you to allow you to process your thoughts can be very useful and my experience of leading students through meditative thinking is highly applicable to successful mentoring.

How do mentoring sessions work?

I work with artists, makers and creative freelancers who work in the fiber arts.  Sessions are informal and held online, so can be of use wherever you are in the world.  Lasting up to an hour at a time, my role is to ask questions to help you look at your aims, goals and blockers so you can examine and move through them at your own pace and via your own solution. Sessions are friendly and open to allow you to time to ask your own questions, to think and process in a safe space.

We can also record the online sessions if you would like to listen to them again at a later date.

You can book a single session, or arrange to speak monthly; whatever is most helpful for you.

What kind of things can you help me with?

I have built and run a number of successful businesses through my career, with the past decade dedicated to the practice and furthering of handweaving for a modern age.

I can mentor people already running or wanting to run a business around their fiber arts skills, as well as those who create for their own satisfaction and enjoyment.

My areas of experience include:

- Product development for weaving

- Exploring design and inspiration

- Using meditation and meditative thinking to access your creativity

- Pitching to perspective clients

- Hiring freelance staff to support and grow your business

- Cultivating useful partnerships and collaborations

How much does it cost?

Mentoring sessions are per hour and cost $60. You can pay as you go or block book a group of sessions by adding multiples to your basket.  A recording is included within the fee.

Please get in touch via my Connect page if you have any questions before you book.
