I am delighted to welcome weaver and author Deborah Jean Cohen to teach this highly useful online workshop, which will cover different ways to square your straight-off-the-loom potholder art, plus tips to avoid serious blocking.
During the session, we’ll look at a few more difficult patterns (mixed tabby and twill, shadow weave words and corners), and demonstrate methods to counteract the effects of an unbalanced weave structure. We’ll go over balanced structures too; there are easy (though maybe somewhat odd) methods to get the straight edges and nice corners you might want.
This is the perfect workshop if you'd like to deepen your weaving experience and improve your handweaving finishing techniques. The class would suit weavers who already have basic potholder weaving skills.
The workshop will take place via Zoom on Saturday, April 13th 2024, 11am-12pm (PT)
Cost per attendee: $30. Techniques will be demonstrated by Deborah, but if you would like to follow along, you may wish to have a number of finished potholders to hand.
Deborah Jean Cohen is an experienced handweaver and author of In the Loop: Radical Potholder Patterns and Techniques. A retired programmer and analyst, she brings a fascinating, radical and unique perspective to the craft.
The class will be held online via Zoom and we very much look forward to seeing you April 13th. Details of how to access the workshop will be sent closer to the date.
A recording of the class will also be provided after the event by email, for all paying attendees.
