Save Your Socks Workshops with Selvedge

I am delighted to be working with Selvedge's internationally renowned community to host a special workshop which focuses on reusing socks which have reached the end of their wearable life.

The workshop takes place on Saturday 5 November 2022 from 16:00 - 19:00 GMT (London) / 9:00 am PDT.

Together we will discover a slower pace of making as you join me in making a beautiful, versatile woven potholder, hand mitt or table mat - using only a handheld metal loom, cotton loops and pre-loved fibres from old socks.

Perfect for beginners, the workshop welcomes those eager to learn new skills, embrace their creativity, and find new ways to recycle their old garments. Participants will leave the workshop equipped with the foundational skills to experiment with their own handwoven designs: a whole world of possibilities in colour, texture and pattern. And in the process, participants will uncover the restorative benefits of handweaving both as a creative and mindful practice.

In addition, the workshop is a valuable introduction to ideas of material reuse and regeneration, in the home, a vital skill we need to re-embrace.

Tickets and workshop kits are available via Selvedge's website HERE.

To take part, you will need a 7x7 inch metal handloom and a small bundle of cotton loops (you can take a look at the colors you can choose from here), also available via Selvedge.  In addition, you will need two old, adult sized socks.

I look forward to seeing you online in November.
